24.7.26 - One to one time with two of our beautiful ladies 🩷🩷
Sometimes the most meaningful moments don’t come from big activities—they come from simply being there.

One-to-one time with our residents is so important. Sitting together, holding a hand, sharing a smile, singing a favourite song, having a chat, or simply enjoying a quiet moment can bring comfort, reassurance and joy.

For many of our residents, these gentle moments help reduce anxiety, encourage communication, and strengthen feelings of connection and belonging. It’s a reminder that you don’t always have to “do something” to make a difference—sometimes your presence is the greatest gift of all.

At Coppermill Care Centre, we treasure these special moments with our wonderful residents . ❤️

🌈 A Colourful Sensory Afternoon 🍬

Our residents had fun this afternoon creating beautiful rainbow patterns using brightly coloured sweets, paper plates and warm water. Watching the colours spread and blend together was fascinating, and everyone was fully engaged in the activity.

Sensory activities like this are especially beneficial for people living with dementia, helping to stimulate the senses, encourage conversation, promote relaxation and bring moments of joy.

22.7.26 - 🌸 A Blooming Lovely Day at Coppermill Care Centre 🌸

Today our residents enjoyed a wonderful flower arranging demonstration, kindly led by Gladys’ the Neice of one of our residents.

Using beautiful foliage from her own garden alongside gorgeous flowers, she created everything from charming jam jar posies to stunning hand-tied bouquets. Our home is now looking beautifully bright, and special bouquets were also made for residents enjoying the day from their rooms.

It was the perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon, bringing smiles, creativity and conversation. Sharing the talents and skills of our residents’ families helps strengthen the wonderful sense of community that makes Coppermill Care Centre so special.

21.7.26 - 👑 A Royal Surprise at Coppermill! 👑

Today, we discovered a very special guest tucked away in our activities cupboard – a cardboard cut-out of our late Queen Elizabeth II! (This lovely cut out was a treasured possession of a very special Coppermill gentleman) Needless to say, she made a surprise appearance, much to the delight of our residents.

There were plenty of smiles, laughter and memories shared as everyone reminisced about the Queen’s remarkable life, the celebrations they had experienced over the years, and what she meant to them.

Reminiscence activities like this can have many benefits, including encouraging conversation, stimulating long-term memories, promoting social interaction, and creating moments of joy and connection. Sometimes, the simplest surprises can bring the biggest smiles.

Recently we marked Nelson Mandela’s birthday by taking time to reflect on his remarkable life and legacy. Together we shared stories about his values of kindness, courage, forgiveness and equality, leading to some lovely, warm discussions. It was a wonderful opportunity to remember how compassion and respect can make a difference in all our lives.

20.7.26 - ✨ Inspirational Joyce! ✨

Joyce is living proof that you’re never too old to keep active. In her 90s, she starts every morning by putting on her favourite classical music and enjoying her own exercise routine from the comfort of her bed.

Joyce believes that staying active is important at every age, and her determination and positive attitude inspire us all. Every movement helps to support her strength, mobility and wellbeing.

We’re so proud of Joyce. She is a true inspiration and a wonderful reminder that looking after yourself never goes out of style. ❤️🎶

20.7.26 - National Lollipop Day at Coppermill Care Centre 🍭

Who can resist a lollipop? Today we celebrated National Lollipop Day by sharing a colourful selection of lollipops with both residents and staff, and there were plenty of smiles and laughter all around.

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that bring the greatest joy. A lollipop isn’t just a tasty treat – it can spark happy childhood memories, encourage conversations, and remind us that it’s important to enjoy life’s little pleasures.

Today was all about having fun, sharing a smile, and taking a moment to enjoy something sweet… just because. 🍭❤️

20.7.26 🎨🍭 Creativity, smiles and sweet treats at Coppermill Care Centre! 🍭🎨 We’ve been getting creative at Coppermill Care Centre today while enjoying something that nobody can resist – lollipops! 🍬 Our residents made their own delicious marshmallow lollipops using wooden sticks, chocolate icing and colourful sprinkles. 17.7.26 - Today was a truly special day at Coppermill Care Centre. 💙 Three of our lovely Coppermill gentlemen enjoyed lunch by the river (something that had been mentioned in passing that they had missed.) Thanks to the kindness of everyone who has donated to our residents Activity Fund, we were able to make this meaningful wish happen. They enjoyed delicious food, a pint of shandy, sunshine, and beautiful local views, but most importantly they enjoyed the experience of being out in our community, doing something familiar and special to them. They couldn’t thank us enough. A pub lunch may seem like a little thing to some, but for our residents it was a big moment — a chance to reconnect with memories, enjoy independence, and make new memories. A huge thank you to everyone who supports our residents Activity Fund. Your generosity helps us provide meaningful experiences and reminds See more

What a wonderful morning we’ve had making the most of the glorious sunshine! Our residents enjoyed relaxing in the garden, listening to fantastic 60s classics, singing along, chatting, and getting creative.

Today’s activity was a little bit of summer fun as everyone designed and coloured their own colourful bikini. There were some fantastic creations, and lots of laughter along the way! We have to say, the gentlemen got just as involved as the ladies… perhaps even more so! 😄

Here are some of our fabulous designs – we hope they make you smile as much as they made us.

Our residents always enjoy a game of Reminiscing Ball. As we gently throw or roll the ball, each question encourages residents to share memories from their lives, sparking wonderful conversations, laughter, and smiles.

For people living with dementia, reminiscing can help improve communication, boost confidence, reduce anxiety, strengthen friendships, and promote a sense of identity and wellbeing.

Every memory shared is a reminder that everyone has a unique story to tell, and it’s a privilege to hear them. ❤️

What an incredible milestone! Today, our wonderful resident Brian celebrated his 100th birthday surrounded by fellow residents, staff, and his lovely family, who joined him to make the day extra special.

Brian was delighted with his thoughtful presents from his family, enjoyed a well-deserved glass of his favourite wine, and was especially thrilled to receive a birthday card from His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen – a truly memorable moment on such a remarkable birthday.

It has been a joy to celebrate this very special occasion with you, Brian.

🎂 Congratulations, Brian, and a very happy 100th birthday from all of your friends at Coppermill Care Centre. Here’s to an amazing century of wonderful memories! ❤️🥂

16.7.26 - 🐉 Jeff’s Dragon Lives On! 🐉 Ever since our George and the Dragon activity, Jeff has absolutely loved being the dragon! In fact, he’s asked several times if he could wear his dragon costume again. The only problem? With the recent hot weather, his furry dragon onesie would have been far too warm and uncomfortable. 🌞 So, rather than simply saying “no”, we worked together to find a solution. Jeff and I had great fun browsing Vinted, looking through lots of fantastic dragon T-shirts, and Jeff chose his favourite himself. As you can see, he’s absolutely delighted with his new dragon top! 🐲💚 This is a lovely example of how a little compromise can go a long way. By listening to Jeff’s wishes, offering choices, and supporting him to make his own decision, we helped him express his personality while staying comfortable and safe.
